About the BUA

The British Ulster Alliance was officially formed in October 1999 by loyalists, patriots and British nationalists on the mainland. From its inception the Alliance opposed pro ‘united Ireland’ initiatives introduced by successive British governments, believes that Ulster should remain British and fully integrated into the United Kingdom alongside England, Scotland and Wales. We will campaign vigorously to resist those who attempt to force the ethnic British people of Ulster into a hostile state such as a ‘united Ireland’.

For years, loyalists on the mainland have watched the Labour Party and its ‘united Ireland’ supporters slowly but surely undermine the existence of Ulster as an integral part of the United Kingdom. Labour MPs, councillors and party activists have consistently aided and abetted Sinn Fein/IRA through its literature, use of public amenities and pandering to the wishes of their Irish constituents in return for votes. Provocative marches have been allowed to take place through major towns, headed by republican flute bands - some taking place within days of bombings and other atrocities carried out by republican terrorists.

We recognise and respect the will of the citizens of Eire to self-determination and independence from the rest of the United Kingdom. Equally we believe that they should recognise and respect that their neighbours in Ulster have the right to remain British and to exist in peace along with their fellow British citizens throughout the United Kingdom.

Cross-border co-operation should exist to cover areas of mutual interest such as tourism, agriculture and when totally necessary, some areas of security. The British citizens of Ulster should not have to live in constant fear from republican terrorists who reside along the border.

The emotive subject of prisoner release was high on the agenda for many supporters who attended a series of initial meetings. Former mainland loyalist prisoners who were still in contact with fellow comrades gauged the opinions of those still interned. Despite some initial reservations, the Alliance gave its full support for the release and resettlement schemes. The principal belief that forged the Alliance’s manifesto was that of Ulster remaining British and total opposition to the concept of a ‘united Ireland’. Support for those who continue to resist political and militant republicanism will be given whenever and wherever possible.

The Alliance sincerely believes that the surrender of loyalist weapons would rapidly accelerate the sell-out of Ulster. Loyalist communities cannot trust the present government to defend them from those who still advocate the policy of ‘Brits out’. Until the time when a British government emerges whose Loyalty lies with the people it is meant to represent, Loyalists must be prepared to defend themselves.

Interface Action
Interface-Action are a voluntary group consisting of British Ulster Alliance members and supporters. Our primary aim is to support fellow Loyalists and Unionists who reside in interface areas. We attempt to achieve this by giving political, financial and moral support through a number of activities. Our political activity is centered on highlighting the continued attacks by Irish republicans and nationalists on Loyalist/Unionist communities.Communities such as The Fountain, Whitewell, Cluan Place and Glenbryn. We have held a number of demonstrations at Downing Street and have submitted letters to the Government informing them of their moral obligation to provide adequate security for our fellow British citizens in Ulster.

Our financial support is given by donations made to various community projects taking place within interface communities. We have helped finance the setting up of a community shop in Whitewell, provided a childrens funday, paid for a childrens Christmas party and donated money to a much needed youth centre. These and other worthy causes have been financed by generous donations made at our various benefit nights held throughout the United Kingdom.

At various times throughout the year we travel to interface areas to lend our support and to provide first-hand experience to our new members and supporters. Anyone wishing to assist us in our support for interface communities can contact us by emailing:
